Jet propagation in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) will lead to jet quenching, which has been an effective way to probe the properties of the QGP for decades. To study jet quenching, a linear Boltzmann transport (LBT) model based on perturbative chromodynamics (pQCD) is developed, coupled with event-by-event 3+1D hydrodynamic backgrounds. We investigate in detail the suppression of the inclusive jet and gamma-jet in nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC colliding energy $\sqrt{s} = 2.76$ TeV and $\sqrt{s} = 5.02$ TeV and show a good description of the experimental data. Inspired by the results from the LBT model, a Bayesian analysis is used to extract the jet energy loss distributions directly from the experimental data. We find jet energy loss is mainly caused by a few out-of-cone jet-medium interactions in the evolution of the QGP.
